Jeff specializes in criminal defense and regulatory marijuana law matters, zealously defending against government overreach by law enforcement and regulatory agencies. Drawing upon legal expertise, creativity, marijuana-related scientific research, and masterful negotiation, Jeff represents both individuals and businesses accused of offenses ranging from serious felonies to licensing infractions and violations.

In numerous courtrooms across Colorado, Jeff has achieved favorable outcomes for hundreds of clients accused of crimes including driving under the influence, drug possession, cultivation, distribution, zoning violations, and civil forfeiture. Jeff understands the science related to marijuana consumption, as well as the nuanced processes involved from seed or clone all the way to flower, concentrate, or edible. He regularly uses this knowledge his clients’ advantage when addressing juries, judges, prosecutors, and regulators.

Jeff has counseled many businesses and individuals on regulatory compliance, and has successfully defended clients against violations alleged by the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division and local licensing authorities. Jeff vigorously defends license infractions, suspensions, and revocations.  Lastly, Jeff has counseled multiple caregivers and medical and recreational homegrowers on compliance with state and local marijuana laws, and has defended them against violations of their Constitutional rights.

Jeff is admitted to practice law in the state of Colorado and the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. He is a founding member and Co-Vice Chair of the Colorado Bar Association’s Cannabis Law Committee, and is a regular speaker on the intersection of marijuana criminal and regulatory law.
